Important Information
------------------------------------------

Please note:

- Please keep your product serial number in a safe place where it is not accessible on a network. It is needed in order to launch and register your software.

- The Demo version of Shade 9 has a trial period of 30 days. After 30 days you will need to visit our website at http://www.miryestore.com to purchase your copy.

- If you purchase an upgrade to Shade 9, such as an upgrade from the Shade 9 Demo version or Shade 9 standard to Shade 9 professional, you can input your new serial number by choosing "Enter Serial Number..." from the Help menu.

- The following features are not available in the 64 bit Windows version of Shade:
- Shockwave 3D Exporter
- ViewPoint Exporter
- QuickTime VR Exporter

- The following features are not available in the Mac OS X version of Shade:
- Shockwave 3D Exporter
- ViewPoint Exporter

- Shade runs best with 32 bit true color graphics driver settings. If your driver doesn't support 32 bit, please use 24 bit true color instead.

- Shade's hardware accelerated preview runs best on recent NVIDIA and ATI graphics boards. In case you encounter any problems with the hardware acceleration, please switch off the acceleration component.
* Go to Edit menu > Preferences... (Windows) or Shade > Preferences... (Mac OS X).
* Select the View tab.
* Under OpenGL, uncheck the Accelerator check box.

If upgrading to the newest driver version offered by the original manufacturer still does not solve the problem, set the hardware accelerator to [none] under graphics accelerator trouble shooting.

* Close Shade if it is running.
* Right-click on an empty area of the desktop, and select [Properties].
* Select the [Settings] tab from the display properties, and click on [Setting Details] (Windows XP) / [Details] (Windows 2000) in the bottom right corner.
* Select the [Trouble Shooting] tab from the window.
* Set the [Hardware accelerator] slider to [none].
* Click the OK button to apply the settings.

If you experience problems using the NVIDIA 32 bit ForceWare 100.65 WHQL driver on Windows Vista, please follow these steps:
1. Select the NVIDIA Control Panel from the Windows Control Panel.
2. Select Advanced > 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings.
3. Extension Limit should be set to ON.

------------------------------------------
Poser Integration with PoserFusion
------------------------------------------

Please take the following notes into account when working with PoserFusion:

1. PoserFusion is compatible with Poser 5, Poser 6 and Poser 7, meaning that you can import Poser 5/6/7 pz3 or pzz files. Before importing a Poser scene file you must specify the location where Poser is installed.

2. An improved bending algorithm was used on some of Jessi's joints. Visual quality of bending may be affected since PoserFusion will fall back to an older algorithm.

3. Dynamic hair in PoserFusion is limited, depending on your available memory.

4. If you use motion blur, for best results, check "Use Integer Frame Numbers". If you use BlurEffector, uncheck "Use Integer Frame Numbers".
* Select Rendering Setttings from the Rendering menu.
* Select the Effects tab. From the Effector pulldown menu select BlurEffector.
* Select Motion from the View menu. Open the Animation Settings and change the Steps to 0.2.

5. Hosting a Poser 5 scene with bump maps in Shade:
In Poser 5, if the bump image map is connected to the Gradient_Bump channel, the Bump map will not render correctly in Shade. To correct this, disconnect the Gradient_Bump and connect the image map to the Bump channel.

6. On Windows, avoid turning Bounding Box Display on and off again frequently to avoid running out of memory.

------------------------------------------
Known Issues
------------------------------------------

- Rendering animations in a network of rendering servers might fail if your Shade scene relies on plugins or the PoserFusion feature. In case you encounter this problem, please render the animation on your main computer.

- To use HairSalon with ShadeGrid, convert the hair to polygon meshes before rendering.

------------------------------------------
Documentation
------------------------------------------

The online guides are Adobe Acrobat files, located in the "Documentation" folder in your Shade 9 installation. Open these documents with Adobe Reader 5.0 or later. In Shade 9, to access the online guides, choose "Shade Help" from the Help menu. This will launch Adobe Reader, allowing you to browse the following online documentation:

Beginner Tutorials -- A guided tour of Shade for beginning users.
User Guide -- The essential guide to using Shade.
Reference -- Technical descriptions and explanations of Shade functionality.
Plugin Manual -- Documents the plug-ins included with Shade 9.
Quick Reference -- Tables of all the shortcut key combinations used in Shade 9.

Your copy of Shade 9 includes the latest version of the program. Therefore, some descriptions in the online guides may differ from the actual program specifications.

------------------------------------------
Copyrighted files on the CD-ROM
------------------------------------------

The copyrights for the sample files included on the Shade 9 CD-ROM belong to the original authors of those files. They are included for personal use. Commercial use of the original or modified files, or using them in any media, is prohibited.

------------------------------------------
Miscellaneous
------------------------------------------

- Wavefront OBJ Export
When importing Wavefront OBJ files from Shade 9 into other 3D applications, e.g. Poser, you might notice that mirrored geometry gets reversed. There is a simple procedure in Shade to correct this issue:
* Open the .shd model in Shade 9
* Go to Rendering menu> Display Mode> Shading.
* Go to Rendering menu> Single-sided.
* Go to the Modify menu> Show Normals.
* Adjust the direction of the reversed faces of all objects by using the Flip Face checkbox in the Browser window.

- Web 3D: Viewpoint & Shockwave 3D
Shade 9 can create 3D interactive scenes that can be seamlessly integrated with web pages and viewed over the Internet using the Viewpoint Media Player plug-in for Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL and CompuServe. You will need to obtain a broadcast key from Viewpoint in order to have your content viewable over the Internet without Viewpoint's "water mark" placed over your image. Broadcast keys are made freely available by Viewpoint for non-commercial uses and for many smaller scaled commercial uses as well. All use is subject to Viewpoint's license agreement. To acquire a valid broadcast key, visit the Viewpoint web site at http://www.viewpoint.com.
Viewpoint and Shockwave 3D export is supported by the Windows versions of Shade only.

- Viewing Video Tutorials
Shade video tutorials display within Shade's HTML viewer. Consequently, web browser pop-up blocking software may prevent the movies from playing. If the movies do not play from within Shade, navigate into the "html" folder in your Shade installation and open the appropriate "index.html" file with your web browser. If the browser shows that a pop-up was blocked, change the settings to allow the content to play.

- Using ShadeExplorer with multiple installations of Shade
ShadeExplorer settings are saved in your user folder, meaning that if you install multiple copies of Shade, including both 64-bit and 32-bit installations on a Windows 64-bit system, ShadeExplorer may try to load the wrong settings. To correct this, simply click ShadeExplorer's "Update" button to update the settings location information after switching between Shade installations.
