CALLISTO

Highly customizable plug in renderer for Shade Professional 10 and Earlier

This feature is discontinued and no longer included with Shade

Shade 12 E

Because of core advancements in the Shade native renderer beginning with Shade 12, CALLISTO is no longer included with Shade from Shade 12 and later.

Shade 10 E and Earlier

CALLISTO for Shade is the highly-customizable renderer included with Shade Professional. Get great results right from the Shade render dialog; get incredible art with granular control over scenes, lights and objects with CALLISTO - select and apply settings on any object in your scene. CALLISTO is only available in Shade 10 Professional.

CALLISTO Features

  • High-Speed Rendering Options. Uses Scan Line, Ray Tracing, and Distribution Ray Tracing as needed; all are optimized to be fast.
  • Micro Polygon Subdivision for Curved Surfaces. With the micro polygon subdivision, curved surfaces can be rendered perfectly smooth. CALLISTO can automatically determine the right setting for the surface subdivision, but you can still modify as required.
  • High-Quality Anti-aliasing. Optimize anti-aliasing settings as required for high resolution still images, animations, and Web images with up to 41 points per pixel sampling.
  • Sophisticated Material Settings. Use displacement maps; merge, partially fuse, and switch materials, it is possible to create interesting, complex materials, such as those with varying refractive indexes.
  • Photon Mapping. Calculate not only the soft light reflected from a wall, but also the caustics effect in which light is focused through
    glass.

Photon Mapping enables high-quality Path Tracing with Photon mapping. Create a variety of sky lights, as well as the “Geometry light” that uses an object as an illuminator in conjunction with Global Illumination.
