Shade rigging begins with joints - interactive objects that constrain and define how movement works - not only for standard polygon or curved surface models but also with effectors, lights and cameras. Nine basic types of joints are rotator, slider, scale, uni-scale, light, path, morph, ball and switch. Use rotator, slider, scale, uni-scale path and ball joints to build complex relationships between parts. Shade joints can be constrained and controlled by object sliders, letting you manipulate an object interactively without creating an actual sequence.

Shade includes a mature Inverse Kinematics system for creating complex, hierarchical motion objects. In addition, Shade adds Smart IK -a control system designed to work together with Inverse Kinematics (IK) to provide precise control over the posing and animation of complex joints. Once you set up a hierarchy, you can work with the underlying bones or map the surface of your model out as a skin for powerful character animation capabilities. Smart IK comes to life in sequence motion, or traditional key frame based animation in the Motion timeline.
Import Poser Animation with Poser Fusion. Shade Standard and Professional include PoserFusion that allows you to directly import and host complete, animated characters using Smith Micro Poser.

Add real, planetary based gravity systems (Earth, Moon, Mars, Venus, etc), gravity pull objects and real collision detection to add realism to Shade animation. Apply physics based motion blur to your animation to add realism to any animation.

Combine particle emitters, and wind objects (Cross Wind, Turbulent Wind, Tornado) with Shade physics simulations to achieve dynamic special effects.
