Shade for Game Design

Blue Mars

Shade has features which will assist in building professional 3D content for online and offline games.

Create, Reuse, Redeploy Your Content with Shade

Shade 10 introduces several new export options for content creators.

Blue Mars Export

Avatar Reality Blue Mars is a massive multi-player online community released in late 2009. Instead of building a simplistic, lightweight game client, Avatar Reality created an entirely new experience with Blue Mars by using instead the CryEngine 2 engine, a visually rich game engine. Blue Mars is a giant virtual world, based loosely on a terraformed Mars in the year 2177.

Avatar Reality provides a complete set of world and content deployment tools; using Shade Professional, designers can create new content for Blue Mars. Designers can rent virtual space on Blue Mars and generate revenue by populating their virtual space with inspiring content and licensing it to other players.

Play Blue Mars for FREE and visit Shade City - the community site created with Shade 10.

Second Life Export

Linden Labs Second Life online community is the largest of its kind. Shade 10 introduces the ability to export Shade models as Second Life sculpted prims. You can get started creating new objects for use in Second Life with Shade Designer. Sell your content through the Second Life Marketplace.

COLLADA Export

Unlike many failed attempts at creating a universal exchange format, COLLADA has penetrated both the digital 3D animation and rendering market as well as the real time simulation and game industry. Unlike DirectX, COLLADA compatible products are available on Mac OS X and Linux, with some support on handheld devices.

DirectX Export

The DirectX file format is the defacto standard for Windows based games, and utilized in Microsoft's XNA game development platform for both PC and XBox game development. Use Shade Professional to develop game content for PC games.

Watch for additional information on using Shade with games and simulations, coming soon.
